French drugmaker Sanofi-Aventis said on Thursday that its anti-obesity Acomplia drug had received approval from Brazil's health authority.
Sanofi hopes Acomplia can help offset future lost sales to generics.
Acomplia has been approved in the European Union, but reimbursements remain limited and the drug is still awaiting approval from U.S. health authorities following several delays. Sanofi has in the past forecast $3 billion in annual sales from Acomplia.
